Dailies

The first stop for your footage.

Dailies takes your script and the day's footage and does the sorting overnight. By morning, every take is proxied, synced, transcribed and filed by scene, ready to cut.

Your source footage is never moved, renamed or changed.
15–25 hours

That's how long it takes to log a 50-hour shoot by hand, before anyone syncs a clip or builds a bin. Manual logging runs 30 to 50 percent of the footage's length. Dailies does that part for you.

Step 1

Upload your script.

Dailies reads your shooting script and finds every scene, location and character. That's the map it uses to sort your footage.

We recommend uploading the full shooting script. You can update it any time, or add the day's sides as pages change. Add your production schedule too, so Dailies knows which scenes were on each day's call sheet.

Step 2

Connect your footage.

Point Dailies at the drive where the day's camera and sound cards were offloaded. It reads them and makes lightweight proxies for review. Your originals stay exactly where they are.

Step 3

Sync sound and transcribe.

Picture and sound are lined up by timecode, or by matching the waveforms when timecode isn't there. Then every take is transcribed and matched to its lines in your script, so you can search the footage by what was said.

Step 4

Every take, sorted.

Takes are filed under their scene and labeled by shot size and the characters in frame. B-roll and inserts get their own bin. If a label is wrong, change it in one click. Dailies learns from every correction.

Step 5

Cut the scene line by line.

Dailies lines your script the way a script supervisor would, showing which setups cover every line. Click Nora's close-up for one line and Jess's for the next, and the timeline builds as you go. Trim or extend a tail by a few frames, or overlap the dialogue.

This is a rough assembly, not a finished edit. It gives your editor a first pass of the scene to start from.

Step 6

Send it to your edit.

When the assembly is ready, Dailies hands the whole scene to your editing software. Every take comes over, not just the ones in the assembly, in bins sorted by scene, setup and take, with your circled takes marked. Works with Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.
